Passport prime issues

@qna I do have two more I do not use anymore but both are Motorola’s running Android 11. Will try on those two and report back.

@qna Here’s the report on the two alternate phones I have access to.

1. The first alternate phone refuses to let me log into the playstore with my gmail ID to download envoy. Google just goes into a continuous loop. Login, enter password, login enter password, verify 6 digits sent to your email, login, enter password, verify 6 digits we sent you. Google is beyond insane. This phone is an old A20 Motorola with android 11. Since this one is Android 11 we can assume it would be a no go.

2. The 2nd alternate phone is an older Motorola moto g (early 2021) with android 11. This phone is a no go also. Does exactly the same thing as my daily driver. Upon pressing connect with QuantumLink the envoy app crashes instantly and disappears.

Looks like it is going to be an Android 11 thing.

That certainly seems possible at this point. Think you could get access a different friend of family member phone, even if just for a few minutes, to test it?

We have an internal ticket to track and investigate this, and will get back to you ASAP.

I will check with a friend and see what version of android is on his phone.

Hi.

I’m currently stuck backing up my Master Key via NFC. passport Prime is just stuck the “Positioning the Keycard” with no buttons responding. Have not tried turning off device completely. I’m on iOS and what should be latest version of Envoy since I just downloaded.

Another small side note that scanning the QR to take me to Envoy Download after opening link in Brave to foundation websites nothing actually happened when I clicked the download envoy app so had to find the app manually and download from App Store.

Please advice how to proceed with regards to being stuck with none of the Prime on-screen buttons responding!

If there are no buttons responding, please turn the device off and on again and let me know if you cannot proceed afterwards.

Strange on the QR code scan, I just tried on iOS and couldn’t fault it. It could be that you’ve previously blocked Brave from opening redirects to the app store.

So at this stage we can not log make edit files or store external seeds into prime?

Will this be possible on the next update?

Beautiful job on the design, once it has utility this is a stellar hardware stack :orange_heart:

Loading external seeds is coming in the next major release, KeyOS 1.3.0.

Editing files is not something we have on the roadmap right now, but I don’t see why we couldn’t add a simple text editor in there at some point. Right now the obvious (and much faster) way is to add the file to the airlock and do the editing with your phone or computer.

A simple text editor would be much appreciated. I will try the airlock feature but I would prefer my file completely air gapped.

Edit -Without the text editor I would still need to export the file to a phone or computer to read it anyway. Correct?

Well if there was ever a text edit feature on the device, it would make sense for us to add a read option there too. But IMO for it to be useful, yes, a device with a larger screen and/or keypad would be much more useful, particularly for larger documents.

I am requesting this so I am able to give my non-technical wife personalized instructions on how to uses the Passport Prime, in the event of my passing. I suppose I can do this in several different formats however it would be extremely convenient if it were on the device.

I was also planning on making a secure encrypted text app once the devkit was released for anyone to use. But it would be super helpful if there was a native built-in experience. If other apps offered the same service it would be helpful to be able to show them as well as an option to open xyz like opening a text file shows the built-in app + any other custom apps that support the format of the data/thing. Kind of like how android allows you to have intent filters to specify what the app can do in the manifest file.

Also as a side note what are your thoughts on having a down arrow to close the keyboard?? Because right now the only way to close it is to hit the next/enter key but I might not want to jump to the next screen or save something. Could be useful if there was a down arrow below the keyboard that closes it.

All of these suggestions sound great to me cc @Jack

I am unable to view my passphrased wallet in envoy. Note I was able to interact with it previously. I am also unable to transfer files through the USB C port.

Is the passphrase active on Passport Prime? Currently it needs to be for the account(s) to display in Envoy. We do have plans to make this more granular in a future update as we know there is a use case for receiving to a Prime passphrase account without the device present.

For the files, can you provide more detail? Are you trying to move files in or out? Are you connected via cable to a computer or phone? Or do you just have a USB drive plugged in? Please be as specific as you can so we can help.

When I set up my account I was able to toggle between default and passphrase account in Envoy while connected to Prime. However when I connected to Prime yesterday I did not have the option to view my passphrased account. Also when I connected a USB C reader with a 512G micro SD card and go to Files /External the USB symbol is present on the top of Prime. However there is a message “couldn’t load files please try again or contact support “.

Was the passphrase active on Passport Prime when you reconnected? Right now it needs to be for Envoy to display the corresponding accounts.

For the files, does it work as expected with a different microSD card or storage medium? That would narrow the issue down to the SD card and/or the adapter you’re using.

Yes. I tried with passphrase active and I tried to activate after connecting. Both ways did not show passphrase account in Envoy. As for the USB issue I am currently traveling for work & I don’t have my personal laptop. I will try different things when I return home at the end of the month. I am concerned that I am making a mistake. I am hoping both of my problems are a software issue.

The Envoy/passphrase thing sounds like it could be a display bug. Could you please send the following through to support so the team can investigate further?

  • Envoy version number
  • Envoy logs
  • Phone make/model
  • Phone OS number

Thank you!
