Suggestion: clarify Passport versions

Yesterday I went to upgrade my Passport and was confused if I had a regular Passport or Founders Edition. I searched on GitHub, FAQ and the forum here, without luck, and had to ask on a Telegram group to understand.

I think it should be clarified which version is which. I find it very confusing because:

  • The GitHub release has “v2.3.5-passport.bin” and “v2.3.5-founders-passport.bin”, without any further info;
  • To make it worse, they both have the same exact versions;
  • The header image displays a single Passport;
  • It doesn’t seem to be written anywhere on the device it’s a v2;
  • They’re both called “Passport”.

I was convinced “Founders Edition” was the same device, just some commemorative edition, until I got the answer from a group. Would’ve never imagined it was a “Passport v1”.

Hey Ottok,

Manual GitHub downloads are generally used by advanced customers that want to complete their own verification. Little bits of confusion like this is exactly why we built the firmware update flows inside Envoy, because it handles everything for you.

With that said, I’m sure we can add a sentence to the GH description of future releases to remove any ambiguity.
