Restore Passport with prime in emergency

I have a question

If I was using a prime as my daily driver and my passport in a secure location was damaged/stolen etc
Is it possible using the magic backup
( from my compromised passport)
to use the micro SD and back up code on the prime to bring up my passport accounts and wallets?

Obviously if I had the seed stored on the prime this is another option but i think the back up method would be a more secure option

Thanks

Yes, you’ll be able to recover a Prime from a Passport encrypted backup.

Does passport support encrypting seed phrase onto microsd using custom sentences and phrases, instead of 12 words numonic?

No. Main backups for Prime at launch are seed words and/or Shamir sharing via NFC cards.

  1. PASSPORT core supports backup via microsd card right?, prime will eventually support the same right?

  2. empty nfc cards will be give as a bundle with prime right?

1.Prime will be able to recover from Passport core backups, but the backup format will be different in Prime. In Core, the encrypted backup contains everything, the seed and the data (number of accounts, names for accounts, BIP85 child seed names and so on).

In Prime on the other hand, the seed will be backed up separately from the data. The seed will be backed up to a setup of 2 of 3 keycards (or manually in a steel plate or however you want), and the data backup will be encrypted with the Prime seed and either sent to foundation servers if you have Magic Backups enabled, or you can manually download it if you don’t have Magic Backups enabled. You can download this to a local folder in prime, save it in a computer, or in a microsd card if you have a microsd to usbC adapter.

There is no current plans to create a single backup that contains both, seed and data, like we did in Core at the moment, but it should be technically feasible and I don’t see why we wouldn’t explore the option if there’s demand for it. Just not on the roadmap for now.

2- Correct, each Passport Prime will come with three NFC cards

  1. I was expecting the ability to backup the seedphrase( I really don’t care about other data) onto a microsd like a 7z format with a password( custom phrases or 12 words mnemonic phrases)
  2. I am bitcoin only person looking for a hardware wallet with maximum bitcoin features, like multisig, miniscript etc whilst being able to explore encrypted storage and U2F features(Not the primary usecase tho), so I chose prime, But if bitcoin specific features will always be developed more on CORE and not on PRIME, then should I switch to core instead?
  3. will all bitcoin specific features on core be available on prime?, Also I am hoping airgapped firmware upgrades via microsd be available soon on prime eventually

Yes they will have the same Bitcoin features.
