How is a restore from USB possible? I can backup data to USB but cannot find how to restore from USB. A restore from USB is not an option.

Alright, thank you for the update. I cannot and will not use Passport Prime until this and other features are implemented and proven.

Not a public one at the moment. If you have any specific questions I’ll answer as accurately as I can.
Right so this is a twofold problem. On the one hand, the screen you are looking at recovers the seed. The backup you do to a file is metadata without seed. On the other, you are right however that our current flows dont allow for importing the backup file - we are planning to add support for importing your metadata after you import a seed in 1.5 or 1.6, regardless of what method you use to import your seed. So say, you import seed via QR, at the end of the flow you will be asked, hey do you want to import a backup file? But the same will be true if you import your seed manually or via restoring keycards.
The backup file is encrypted with the seed itself, so it’s important to know they are two separate things and one unlocks the other.

Appreciate the update. My need is the ability to backup and restore an entire device including the ability to backup from device #1 and restore to device #2. A restore that includes everything, notes, passwords, keys, etc.
I do not want to backup to the cloud of any kind, including to the phone, computer, cloud or a Magic Backup to Foundation’s cloud services - which I am currently FORCED to use even when I disable it before setting up my device. The data on my device should never leave that device other than a backup to USB.
I will not use the Prime device as it currently functions today. The Magic Backup feature is a nice option for some but not for me.
My backups should only go to a USB device giving me complete control and isolation from relying on any internet connected device. Furthermore, I don’t want to use the Envoy phone app, or any phone/computer app to do anything. ANYTHING. I don’t even want to install the Envoy app ever.
Also, keeping my keys stored separately on steel plates is still my responsibility for fallback recovery.
The backup/restore is only one issue I have. There are other critical missing or incomplete features I won’t cover in this post.
The Prime device has tremendous potential but its feature set is incomplete today. I look forward to future updates.
