I did a manual firmware update on my passport core. The firmware update was successful on my passport core device. I am using envoy app version 2.02 with IOS 26. The envoy app is saying I need to update the firmware. And my latest transactions haven’t shown up in the app since I did the manual update on the passport core. Should I delete and reinstall the envoy app? Thank you for your time.
Thank you cryptobender!
As a quick note - Passport Core is fully air gapped, meaning it can’t communicate with the outside world (this includes Envoy), other than by QR codes (or the microSd card).
So, when you do a manual firmware update (I presume you mean you downloaded the update file from github and installed it into Passport Core?), Passport doesn’t sync to Envoy automatically.
There’s two ways of having Envoy show the latest version on your paired Passport Core device:
-
The “proper” one, which would be pairing the account you have already paired again. This “overwrites” Envoy with the latest and greatest infor available on your Passport Core. So if you updated an account name, or the firmware version, or the Passport name, re-pairing (that is, doing the pairing process again) will reflect the changes on Envoy.
-
The “hacky” one, which would be tricking Envoy into thinking you are updating Passport Core via Envoy. You can do this by downloading the latest firmware from Envoy, even though you are already updated on Passport Core. For this, tap on the Devices tab, then tap the pill that says “FW v2.3.9”. This will initiate the download of 2.3.9 to your phone - save it locally or in a microSD card, and Envoy will assume you did this to go ahead and update Passport Core (remember, no way to actually communicate with Passport unless you initiate this action!), so it will go ahead and show “2.3.9” as the installed version on Passport Core.
Excellent! Thank you Jack
