Firmware Update and Autolock

Just an FYI observation experience I had when updating the firmware to v1.3 on the Passport Prime. I have my passport prime Autolock set at 15 minutes.

When I was updating the firmware I hit the 15 minute mark and my Passport turned off. I didn’t realize that during the update process it would consider the Passport is idle. Logged back in and had to restart the update process.

Not a complaint, just an observation. I extended my Autolock setting to 1 hour to give the version update time to finish. Also, my brain was thinking this would trigger if it was idle for 15 minutes and not literally Autolock.

Thanks for flagging this, and sorry you had to restart the update.

Auto-lock is meant to be suppressed for the duration of an update, so what you saw is not expected behaviour. I have had a look through the code and cannot yet account for it, so I have raised it with the firmware team.

Two things that would help pin it down. Which version were you updating from, and would you be able to export your device logs and attach them here? Settings, Advanced, View Logs, then export as a file.

In the meantime your workaround is the right one. Extending auto-lock past the length of the update will get you through it.

Ok, I was on v1.2.1 and upgrading to 1.3. I was able to save the log file on the device, just don’t see where to export the file off the device.

Save them as a file, copy to airlock and plug into your computer where you can retrieve them.

Thanks, will work on it. Was trying to use external transfer, not airlock.

So I was able to save and move the log txt file to airlock but for some reason I am unable to move the file from there. Not sure the issue but will try again tomorrow.
