Greetings all and Happy New Year.
Anyone have thoughts on the best BTC node to buy?

As a follow-up, anyone have thoughts on Sovereign Computing and their node?
Thanks for any input to my questions.

I’m personally a big fan of Start9 right now. I run one DIY on a low cost NUC style mini desktop.
No major specs, just an i5 processor, 16GB ram and a 2TB drive. Thing can handle anything I throw at it, including Lightning.
Happy New Year QnA.
Fantastic…thank you Sir for the reply.
I was hoping it would be positive as I find their non DIY oprions reasonably priced.
Unfortunately, Start9 is sold out!
Have no idea when they’ll be restocked…
I wouldn’t shy away from the DIY option, it takes 30 minutes!
I’ve been running a Raspberry Pi 4 with Umbrel for a few years. Last week i finished syncing StartOS from Start9 on an old Lenovo mini-pc.
I also have a Futurebit Apollo 2 Full node/miner.
I’m no expert but you can ask me anything
This is an easy to follow and excellent explanation of setup. I used the HD and case suggested. Downloaded bitcoin core, took 2.5 days to download and verify the entire blockchain, about 675 GB’s. I just have it plugged into a USB on my pc.
Worth mentioning that if you want to run an electrum server for faster transaction indexing/searching and stuff like lightning, a 1TB drive simply won’t cut it for much longer.
Go for a 2TB minimum.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and the recommendations.
I’m sure I’ll be back with questions.
Thanks again.
Hello all, hope every had a great holiday season.
I’ve setup my node and started syncing the BTC core and also using electrs to sync the BTC blockchain.
Using Orbot, I’m able to connect to my node via Blue Wallet.
I’m not able to connect to my node via Envoy.
Any chance thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
One last thought, nothing is fully synced yet.
Not sure if that matters for Envoy to connect. It didn’t for Blue Wallet.
Thanks.
Yes I think BDK, the underlying wallet framework in Envoy, requires a node to be fully synced. Let us know if Envoy won’t connect after that step is complete.
GM QnA…appears I am able to connect if I don’t attempt to use Tor.
If I try to use Tor, I get a “Tor network not accessible“ error.
Thanks.
Can you share the following please?
