Adding import of SLIP-39 seedphrases to the vault

Hey guys, could you add a possibility to import into the vault also SLIP-39 backups. Would be a great way to store a share of a SLIP-39 shamir backup etc.

We can certainly bring it up for discussion. Is it adopted anywhere other than Trezor?

Keystone, OneKey Pro and are your wallets not also using SLIP-39 for the shamir backup? Would also a great if we would be able to create shamir based paper backups for the Prime. I really like how Trezor has it done, the way you can chose your set. e.g make a 3 of 5 etc. In terms of saving one share into the vault, a simple note feature would maybe already be enough so anyone can save whatever they like in the vault. Right now there is not really a way to get it done.

We use Shamir, but we don’t encode as words like Trezor does. We use the Blockchain Commons formatting. What I can say is that we do plan to let you choose your own backup quorum and you’ll soon be able to buy additional NFC cards on our website.

Thanks for the extra info, I’ll bring it up for discussion.

Thanks, that would be a huge improvement already for me, if I could choose an alternative to the 2/3 backup. Looking forward to it.

Some wallets beyond Trezor that support SLIP39:

Sparrow, Electrum, Wasabi, BlueWallet, Keystone, Rabby

SLIP39 has undeniable advantages that every wallet developer who wants to provide users with smart backup options (especially physical ones) should support by now.

Please set aside any ego regarding Trezor as a competitor and make an informed decision that supports Bitcoin users with their self-custody.

It’s not about feature richness for a wallet it’s about security richness for a broad spectrum of bitcoin users and customers.

As of today, it’s at the top of my wish list for Prime.

I can assure you there’s no ego around competitors here, we are not Coinkite. We already have this planned for discussion, checking with @Jack its in our backlog.

Yes, SFT-7932 tracks it - as with other recentns requests, it will probably need to wait to after 1.5.0 is out, as we have a packed release plan already

Any idea with which firmware version we’ll be able to choose our own quorum? Also maybe an option to simply display the share via slip-39 so we can backup on paper instead via NFC?

Currently scheduled for 1.6. Can’t give you anything accurate in terms of timescales, but we are talking months, not weeks. We have lots to do before then.
