"Tamper Detected" Loop while trying to do a Factory Reset

Hello,

On a Passport Prime “developer unit” after opening the device and re-clipping the battery copper connector, the device boots and hits the “Tamper Detected” screen. At this stage, by clicking the “Continue” and double tapping the power button as recommended in the FAQ, lands one on the “Boot Menu”.

From the “Boot Menu”, there are 2 graphical buttons:

  • “System Information”
  • “Recovery”

From the FAQ, one should click on the “Recovery” button to pursue a factory reset. However doing so loop back to the “Tamper Detected” screen at the previous step.

The KeyOS Recovery version is v.1.2.0.

Checking if it’s a question of firmware to upgrade to.

Hey, I’d advise putting some Kapton tape over the tamper pins under the screen to prevent the detector firing so easily.
