Is it going to be possible for the passport prime to be a HID device when plugged into a computer or similar device to then be able to “type” out passwords from the vault?
This is a feature we could add in the future, but it will not be present for MVP. We are monitoring requests like this to gauge appetite for future feature additions, so thanks for your input.
This would definitely make using the password vault much more useful than having to manually type out secrets. I’m also looking to use it as a way to login to my workstation (that doesn’t support FIDO key login at the moment) similar to this: https://support.yubico.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016614980-Programming-a-static-password-into-your-YubiKey
Personally, if this is a feature that’s added to the device I would really like to be able to have the option to completly disable this feature. So even if for instance I plug my device in to my computer while a BTC wallet is running I wouldnt even be able to detect the device unless the feature is enabled. Im very privacy concious so thats my 2 cents if something like this is added.
You can disable USB connectivity at any time.
sweet!
I have been looking for an electronic offline password vault. I would think the bluetooth capabilities of Prime would allow storage of your passwords in a password vault or database and entry into the login fields on the screen. Without ever having to touch online world. I suppose worst case scenario you have to re-type. WHat I have learned is no matter how hard your password manager in terms of encryption or security, if it unlocked and you are using it through the day or leave it open at night (as most are attached to to browsers) then if a hacker gets through your firewall past your router - it is game over! Been waiting a year! Looking forward to delivery.
