Using latest version of Envoy 2.2.1 on android. I do not have Envoy Magic Backups enabled. Before wiping my hot wallet I manually downloaded both “settings & metadata backup file” (envoy_backup.mla) and "tags & labels (BIP-329_export.jsonl) to my phone. Manually restored my hot wallet using my 12 seed words and I can see the wallet and my funds, no problem there. Only issue is none of my tags or notes are there. I would assume that information is kept in the bip329_export.jsonl file? Wondering how I can import that file which is stored on my phone in my envoy backup folder so that it updates my tags and notes in envoy hot wallet. Thanks.
Hey,
After importing your seed, you’d have been asked if you wanted to import a settings and data backup file. It’s at this point you’d supply the file downloaded from Envoy. The one with the .MLA extension.
To achieve this now, you’ll need to erase the seed and complete the steps again.
@Jack @qna Thanks, I guess I overlooked that part. Just two follow up question, I have a hot wallet and a watch only cold wallet (passport) connected to Envoy. So the .mla file is what stores tags and labels for both hot and cold wallet? Lastly what is the .jsonl file used for if I’m already using the seed words to restore a hot wallet? Does it have something to do with the cold watch only wallet? Thanks.
So the .mla file is what stores tags and labels for both hot and cold wallet?
That’s right. It also contains other Envoy specific metadata like which learning content you’ve already read/watched, your country status (for the Buy feature), coin history for things like RBF tagging and device stuff for any connected Passport Core and soon, Prime.
Lastly what is the .jsonl file used for if I’m already using the seed words to restore a hot wallet?
That contains your BIP329 compatible data backup so you can restore your tags and labels into something like Sparrow.
