I tried importing my 2FA accounts from Google Authenticator using its export feature, but the Prime doesn’t recognize the QR code. It would be really helpful if there were a way to import all accounts from Google Authenticator at once.
We are working on it for KeyOS 1.3.0! Next main release.
I’ve been using Ente Auth for 2FA codes. It will produce a qr for individual export, but that seems to be unreadable by Prime.
Are you seeing errors? Or does Prime just not respond when scanning?
Currently Passport Prime has some limitations when importing 2FA codes:
-
The Issuer and Account names can’t have a “:”. This was previously reported by another customer in the forum here. We built it this way because this is how the official spec is supposed to work, but later we realized other services usually ignore this requirement and import them anyway. We will be adding a fix for this in the upcoming KeyOS 1.2.1 release.
-
The 2FA code must be 30 second based - we have plans for expanding this to other time lengths in the future, but as of right now it’s another one of the reasons why you might be encountering a problem.
Does the 2FA code you are trying to import fall in one of the two categories above?
No errors, it just doesn’t respond when scanning.
No colons.
I got successful scans now by moving Ente into a light theme instead of dark. This inverted the QR black/white scheme. Success.
Interesting, I was about to ask quesiton in this direction. I saw that Ente also can generate QRs with colored corners, was that the format you were using? or just inverted pure black and pure white? I will open an internal issue to look into this
No colored corners. Just the black/white inversion.
Understood thank you! We will look into this
